We set the standard for proffesional conduct, training, and ethical practices in the wellness sector. Our mission is to empower practitioner, protect the public and promote high-quality wellness services nationwide.
HWBSA serves as the primary registration and oversight authority for wellness and health practioners in South Africa. We recognise professionals who may not fall under statutory health councils but still meet high standards of competence, ethics, and professionalism.

Certification
Official HWBSA Recognition
All registered practitioners receive an official HWBSA Certificate of Registration confirming their professional status and registration number. Training institutes that meet HWBSA standards are issued a Certificate of Institutional Recognition, showing compliance with professional quality standards.

The Health and Wellness Board of South Africa (HWBSA) is a professional registration and oversight body that recognizes qualified wellness and health practitioners, students, and training institutions that meet ethical and professional standards.
Any wellness or health practitioner who operates in a non-clinical, complementary, or lifestyle medicine field can register. This includes health coaches, trauma-informed practitioners, nutritionists, kinesiologists, energy healers, mindfulness trainers, and similar professionals.
No. HWBSA operates independently as a professional registration authority for practitioners who do not qualify under existing statutory councils like the HPCSA or ASCHP but still work within recognized wellness and health disciplines.
Registered members receive:
- A unique registration number and certificate
- Professional recognition and credibility
- Eligibility for institutional affiliation
- Access to continuing professional development (CPD) guidance
Yes. Students currently studying in relevant health, wellness, or coaching fields are encouraged to register as Student Members until they qualify for full practitioner status.

Applications are reviewed within 7–14 business days. You’ll receive an update by email once your application is processed.
Registrations are valid for one year and must be renewed annually to remain active. Renewal reminders will be sent via email before your expiry date.
Yes. HWBSA accepts international applications for recognition in alignment with our ethical and professional standards.
